Got the stock and forearm sanded out and the first coat of red oil on today.  I sanded to 320, then whiskered after wetting with water and then sanded with 400 paper, did this two times.  Here are a few pictures with the oil on the wood.  The figure really starts popping with this oil.

I let the oil soak in and then wipe off the excess.  Here a few pictures after cleaning off that excess.  Tomorrow I will do it again, and continue daily until I'm happy with what I have.

I did have to add some color under the cheek rest on the stock and a different color to the forearm.  The forearm ended up much lighter than the stock.  You never know for sure on the colors until the finish starts going on, this oil gives you a pretty good idea, but I think the colors came out pretty close for now.
