"Spaghetti" Hi Wall Stock fit Question

So another member has a pistol grip HiWall Buttstock for sale.

Before I get too interested, can anyone tell me if the stock to action fit is similar on a Uberti HiWall vs. a Winchester / Browning

Thanks for any suggestions. ....

So to those who might be similarly interested, I called George at Treebone to ask the same question.

RE: " the stock to action fit is similar on a Uberti HiWall vs. a Winchester High Wall / Browning Hi Wall"

Short answer:

Top inlet: very close
Bottom inlet: Depends on curvature of bottom tang,
The Uberti to the Winchesters, should be close,
Uberti to the Brownings / Miroku not so much.

I have a Uberti in .30/40 with a straight stock, no PG.  Not a fun rifle to shoot with anything approaching full power loads.

I replaced the Uberti buttstock with a buttstock from a Winder Musket.  The front side of the hole for the long screw that ties the upper tang to the lower had to be relieved.  Before relief, the screw hit against wood.  The forward end of the musket stock does not completely contact the action.  I think that is more of an aesthetic problem than anything else, because the rear of the tangs fit very well.  If the gap bothers you, fill the gap with some sort of bedding compound.

Waterman,

Thanks for that information....

RE: Not fun to shoot:
My Uberti in 45-70 is 'not fun to shoot' either.
That one is a straight stock (not pistol grip) and even though
I have a recoil pad on it, it still  kicks pretty good with a full load of BP behind a 515 grain nose rider.

I can't type too loudly as it sits in a safe within hearing range.
She is going to be retired and sent to the rifle rehab spa for a slimmer, smaller parent cartridge.

I've never seen a winder musket never mind shooting one but based on a quick search I gather they are light weight low walls, so no wonder it is not fun to shoot in 30/40

There are Winder musket high walls as well. I just put a musket stock on a high wall. The front half is exactly like a standard stock (straight grip). The butt plate is wide and curved and the top of the stock is squared off from the buttplate forward a ways. Can’t take a photo as I am at the ocean enjoying the clouds
