I saw a very nice Rem roller in 38 RF today.  I have maybe 12 rounds.  What to do after they are gone?  Can this be converted to--what?
thanks

They may or may not go bang. Good luck. Also, the rifle can be converted to center fire.

Shame to mess with a nice old rifle, keep it as a 38 RF, and make ammo for it .  I have done this for many calibers.  Use cut=off 22RF cartridges for primers (like them better than nail-gun charges) and drill the ctg’s to accept them.  Make a cast of the chamber so you can tell what you are dealing with.   I use  sulfur for the casts - It’s cheaper and more fool--proof than the oft- recommended “Cerrosafe”.  Probably you will want a heeled bullet, I.e., the bullet is probably  the same OD as the ctg case.

I think you’ll have more fun and satisfaction  making the ctgs than actually shooting the rifle.

If you scroll down on this page, they sell .38 RF reloading kits.

In the last month I converted two 32 rimfire rollers to centerfire. Bore was bad so both got liners.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

In .38RF Long I wouldn't hesitate to change that Rolling Block to CF myself. The .38 Special cases work perfectly in this conversion, and once converted the gun will have far more appeal to a future buyer as a .38CF Long than RF. You will likely need to have a bullet mold made up to fit the larger bores these old .38RF rifles had, and it will be a heeled design, but you'd need that if you left it RF too.
I have a #1 Rolling Block that was once a .38RF and someone converted it to CF and relined it to .357" groove, so it shoots .38 Specials well. Likely had a bad bore before, so no harm done to reline to a better cartridge. Had it not already been done I'd have relined it to .38-55, but it was cheap at $750 already done, so I left it alone.
