The rifle now has part time home.

The front sight was regulated and polished today, and just needs browning.

Once the sight is done, this gun is complete! Smiley

Beautiful outfit, Bob, with a worthy case (which I assume you made); but just speaking for myself, the scope seems to scale a bit too large.

It was already a beautiful rifle, but the fitted case is the cherry on top! I love cased rifles!

Thanks guys.

Yes, I made the case.  Although, I do not care for upholstery and it shows!

Bill, the scope may be as you say, but I need a scope to shoot anywhere close to well now days.  It’s a 15 power Lyman Super Targetspot.  It’s really not a scope type gun anyway.  Even though on the second hammer I lowered and turned the spur out a bit more, it’s still tight to cock it.

My apologies, Bob; I will really try to fuss less about things that aren't my concern.

Bill, no apologies necessary.  I didn’t take anything wrong, was just explaining why I need a good scope for a crutch!  Grin

Super! Do you have an estimation of the hours spent in recreating this beauty? Research time included....

I didn’t keep tract of the time it took, not even casually.  But, using photo time stamps, I started researching the gun in January of 22.  Started working on the plastic prototype in Sept of 22 and mostly stayed with it until the parts to be engraved went to Diane for engraving in mid June of 23.

I only work in my shop in the afternoons for 3-6 hours each day usually 7 days per week.  Looking back at the picture time stamps, the actual bulk of the work was done over a nine month time frame.  So, at even the low 3 hours per day comes to over 800 hours, this includes drawing parts and working through the dozens of issues that crop up.

Research is usually done during my mornings, I’d guess at least 50-100 hours.

Then the final assembly, after getting back from the engraving, including all the last bits of tuning and the fitted gun case another 100 or so.

So, I would guess on the low side at over 1000 hours, but then I don’t work to speed, more to accurately do the work the first time, so I don’t need to redo things.
Thanks,
Bob

I for one think it is a spiffy system- keep it. And, think of us simple souls who merely clean guns and carefully use our screwdrivers for our 'smithing' accomplishments. Thanks for the delightful display of talent and its product.

So at minimum wage that is about $16,000! Damn fine work!

And…that’s just my time.  You still need to add engraving cost and parts like barrel, steel and wood.  Then there’s running machines, and that cost, plus tooling wear and breakage.   Grin

You can definitely buy guns cheaper than building them, but, what fun would that be! Smiley

Hobbies don't have to make sense, or make money. Our time is free to us, and if you're enjoying the hobby that's always payment enough for me.
Just wish I had the talent to do what you've done Bob!
