I think it was named for Roland Groppe; I always enjoyed shooting with Rowland but I haven't seen him in many years.

My NOE copy of the 311284 casts 220gr out of old (real old) WW.  The NOE mould I have is a multi-cavity with both GC and PB versions.  I am shooting the PB from my Shiloh Sharps M74 in 30-40 Krag at about 1500 fps using 4198 and Garbe's Hi-temp lube mix.  About MOA at 100 for a dozen or so 5-shot groups with my Unertl 20X scope.

I believe your are referring to the Groppe Transonic bullet and there was a time when it is was extremely popular and was used by quite a few. I once had two of those moulds myself and they shot pretty good.

This might be a start, the website archived, doesn’t  have specific diameters, but shape and weight.
