Just talked to Green Mountain and they have discontinued tapered octagon barrel blanks.

Any recommendations for a source?

Action it is going on is a Falling Block Works J

I'm not sure if Borchardt Rifle Company is still selling barrels, but I have one and it's better than any green mountain barrel I've ever owned.  I'd definitely recommend them.

Cpa will also sell you a profiled barrel blank.  They have a number of barrel manufacturers they can use.

Chris,
My best shooting 32-40 high wall has a Green Mountain barrel. I looked down the bore with a scope once. Scared the heck out of me. Rips and tears galore. Shoots 200 yd 1” groups. Two match 250s and a 249 with the 24 only 1/6” out. It also won the 20 shot 200 yd ISSA any sight NW Regional in 2017. Must have gotten a good one.

What caliber and profile barrel are you looking for?  Someone here may have one.

Jack I have in in 38-55 from C Sharps.  When you run a cleaning rod through it, the rod hits a hard bump about 6" from the muzzle.  It would win a rifle match if everyone else was using a sawed off shotgun.  A 2 moa group is an excellent day for that one.  It's enough to sour me on them.  I've never had a barrel like that from anyone else.

I do have another GM barrel, also on a c. Sharps, but chambered with Dan Theodore's paper patch reamer in 45-90.  It's actually a pretty good gun, but the barrel is rough enough that it needs more patches between shots than I think it should.  But it is accurate.

Chris,
Speaking of cleaning.  It only took 2 Kroil patches to clean the 38-70 barrel.

I have four BRC barrels from blanks. Three 40 cal and one 22lr. They are capable of far better accuracy than I am with my eyesight. Never had a problem with any of them. They are all half octagon/round. No problems with machining. I just give them a call and order one and about six weeks later it shows up in the mail. I haven't ordered in a while so I hope they are still in business.
