I just ordered a long tailed sear from MVA.  I have tested it with the lower tang removed and it still won't engage. The hammer bottoms out on the frame first.  T tried a different hammer, same issue.  I am going to try a complete hammer, block lever swap with my other 32-40 DST when the Pope stock get back from the stock hospital.

Could the nose of the sear be topping out on the inside of the receiver? That would also keep it from not engaging the notch. The last long-tailed sear I got from MVA was too short and I had to have it welded up to work. Hope yours works out better.

I will check that as well.  I have 3 DST high walls now (as well a a DST with Zettler triggers) so I can have fun swapping parts.

You need to buy more Winchesters Jack. You need more parts to find something that works. There has to be something out there somewhere. It's just a matter of buying it.

Here's a Winchester I stuck together a couple years ago.
Took it to Raton and won the IS BR with it first time I shot it.
It can happen for you too. You just need more Winchesters.   Wink

I will just keep plugging along. I am considering a new line of work to help fund more rifles. I have a freeway off-ramp all picked out.

Good idea Wes.  I've been thinking of a job that I would like so I took your advise and just applied to the Chippendales.

So, Younger Bear, tell us about your 38-70 barrel. What rifle did it go on? What will you use it for? Local BP matches? Bear hunting?

I think the brass will be here tomorrow. I will make a breech seater and try smokeless and try some fixed BP. Not sure what I will do with it as I have 2 38-55s and a 40-65. I should do a BP shoot off with at least 3 of them. My original 38-55 shot ok but never could beat Rick Moritz with it.  Looking for a 200 yd Moritz killer. I will probably put a better stock on it before I shoot it.
Hear that Rick. I’m coming for you!

This one? The one with the really ugly funky stock?
That is one long barrel.
