Here is some examples of what BP loads can do.
In this case, my 40-65/16 twist HiWall 

Your 38-55 /112 twist should do this kind of accuracy.
#7out the BACO  JIM#371359E bullet.

Last Sept. I shot a similar 99-3X at 500yds to set another record at Lodi BPTR regional
with my Brg BPCR, cal 38-50 RemHep/10 twist with that
Buffalo Arms  JIM#371359E Dual Diameter Elliptical PP bullet
over 63 grains of Swiss 1.5

Simply a question.  In the smokeless category did "any sight" include scopes?  And the black powder, did it?

Not sure about the BP, but Any Sight does include scopes and you can see 36x modern scopes on some zip guns at the matches.
To Westerner, Any Sight means any of his iron sights.

My 38-55 today.  200 yds in calm conditions for the most part. 
I used my 14x Unertl and was cleaning between shots using a mixture of water soluble oil and water on a patch followed by a dry patch.   37gr of Swiss 3F.    It compresses only about 1/8 inch leaving the Saeco 571 bullet with 2 grooves showing.  The bullet will fall out if you turn it nose down.  I weighed every load before dropping it in my 2' drop tube.
8 shots in 2-1/2" with 5 in 7/8".   The upper right  flyer was my fault.

Any sights, any scope allowed in the BP match at Raton.

Next year will be 30 shots BR and 20 shots standing.

Nice target, Jack.

I have been pondering the idea of using a scope at the match at Hamilton in a couple weeks. Have one mounted on a rifle. A Lyman 5A. At one time I was perty handy with a scope. Stopped using one for OH shooting about 2001. 

If I use a scope in the upcoming match, will try to not drop any F bombs.

Next up is my 40-65 high wall. I think I have some year old BP ammo loaded already. It has an MVA tang sight base but I had been using a 3x Mossberg scope on it.
