I have originals also and I lighten the mainsprings on almost all of them. They all seem to have very heavy mainsprings.

LL Hepburn designed the Hepburn as the ultimate match rifle for all sorts of competition, so the heavy mainsprings always made no sense. Of course we know that Remington quickly offered the Hepburns in any configuration a customer might want.
I do own a couple of set trigger Hepburn factory Match B and Long-Range that came with nice mainsprings and easy hammer cocking. Not sure if they came that way because they were match rifles, or some previous owners adjusted them?

Maybe the stiff mainsprings were an attempt to reduce lock time.

Val both my original Hepburn double set and the original single trigger are going to get the springs lightened. I spent a ungodly amount of time last winter making and up putting a double set in my Roller. Finally got them to work very nicely. The geometry nuances for success almost had me give up.  Was working with a old Bud Smith roller frame, I came up with a D/S guard from Ken Womack and machined up the internals. At some point I may try making up a set of Hepburn Walker double set triggers and see how that goes for this rifle.
