Was looking at the Ballard stock adaptation/inletting/fitting post and decided to post some pictures of scrapers and files my brother made for out of lathe tool bits fit to screwdriver handles.

Ballards may be weaker,

Best scrapers I own are homemade. I never found much made commercially that was right for stock work. Mine are mostly screwdrivers I heated and bent tips on and then quenched and ground to shape.
I like yours made from tool cutters as they have a lot more material to resharpen as you go.

Scrapers much-neglected wood-working tools.   Cabinet scrapers made of thin flat-stock are also very useful, and can provide a very nice finished surface on the exterior of gun-stocks.

Scrapers are very useful number of jobs. Homemade or factory depending on the shape required.

I make them out of spade drills, but broken glass also works very well.
