Borchardt forend escutions

Getting ready to attach the forend on my Borchardt build. The wood came from CPA. I have seen a picture of the rear most escutions and it is an oval shape that uses both screws. The wood attachment screw and also the lever spring screw. My question is how does the rear most screw hold both the lever spring and forend?

jhm, it doesn't hold the wood, just the spring.  The escutcheon  rear hole just slides over the screw and the front screw attaches the wood.

Joe

Maybe these will help?
I had the action apart on my bench as well as the drawing. You can see a walnut remnant from the old forend trapped between the screws..
Cheers!
