Volume primer pocket cleaning

Loading fixed for two CPA rifles 32/40 & 38/55.  Just finished about 400 cartridges each. 38/55’s need a good primer pocket cleaning. 32/40’s could use it too. Will reload again about December-January.

Usually use a scraper style bit either in a power screwdriver or chucked in the lathe, run slow. Wire brush style won’t last the lot. Scraper is OK but does not get it all and can be hard on the pocket.

Thinking about some sort of solvent wash. If not completely clean soften enough scraper won’t have to work so hard. Whatever the case would have to be cleaned  of all solvent before loading.

Any ideas or advice ?  Acetone, Carb cleaner, kerosene ?

I just use my wet tumbler and a squirt of Dawn in the water to clean cases, and it does fine at cleaning primer pockets. But when I'm breech seating the same case at the range I use the scrapers on the ends of the handles of my Cleave re-de-capping tool.

Wet tumbler with stainless steel pins, a bit of citric acid, and a squirt of dish soap.  Primer pockets look new along with the rest of the brass.

IMHO    the best way to clean brass and the primer pockets is the small ceramic media with a little soap like Dawn. i use the media and cleaner sold by Dave Mauer. stainless pins are a pain and can get stuck in small cases, the small media wont go thru the wife's strainer and get lost down the drain Smiley

I am also using ceramic media that's shaped like pins, but just a bit larger to not get stuck in flash holes.

Part of my issue is many years using Large Pistol, bought a box of 500 38/55, sized 125 to 32/40, 1993 with my first CPA. Latter split another 500 32/40 box with a buddy

Due primer availability switching to large rifle. They need clean pockets.

I now sit out on the deck in the sun with a beer and use fine wire wool to clean the cases and use a Sinclair primer pocket cleaner and a flash hole cleaner to clean up the flash hole and get rid of the burrs inside the case from where the flash holes were punched or drilled out.
The primer pocket cleaner also makes them the same depth.
I am always surprised how much brass comes off sometimes with new cases.
OK takes time if you have a lot to do but ok if you are retired and the the beer tastes fine.

I dropped the steel pins and media after years of doing it. Use a sonic cleaner exclusively  and  Isonic cleaning fluid.  Normally 50 rounds per load for 30 minutes.I dump the other cases in hot water and let them pre soak to loosen the primer fouling on cases that will be in next batch.  Dump the dirty fluid, rinse, start the next batch. A squirt of Dawn soap also....If you want the brass shiny-er  ,a dash of Lemi-shine dishwasher soap.

May the Bullet Gods be with you.......

Citric acid from the canning aisle is cheaper than the Lemishine and has the same citric acid in it

I would like to try the ceramic media, and would like to know where and what size and shape etc.? I have for quite some time been using pins, they get the brass very clean but do get stuck up inside on occasion which forces one to check all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
