Two Lips are hard to Draw File

At least for me.  Got the Barrel in a Pipe Clamp "Cradle" so it can adjust if I'm off with the file.  Best I've come up with is a 3 Corner File for a Die Filler.
Much like Planing on a Board I need to adjust the Fore and Aft Pressure at the Tulip.  This is the same Barrel with the Wedding Band. David

I use tubing that matches the curve radius wrapped with different grit sandpaper when working near the tulip.

I have done a few tulips but they always wind up undersize. My mill won't tolerate large cutters so it's straight octagon or half and half for me most of the time.

I've never cut one myself. Just had them milled and then did the polishing to prep for rust bluing. I don't do them often as I normally like very heavy barrels and they never have a tulip.

I do like marlinguy, I use wooden dowels with emery paper wrapped around it and rotate it to polish the tulip.
