first posted a photo a couple of months ago to show the”mullered diamond” checkering pattern as laid out & cut on a Ballard stock by Wayne Belec. This resulted in several requests to see a photo of the rest of the rifle. So here is my attempt to oblige.
The barrel is a heavy full oct. Cut rifled by Bob “Red Scherer for me Circa 1985 that I chambered & threaded on a plain Ballard action that I shot a lot over the next 15 or so years.
Then around 2000 I managed to acquire a factory engraved Rigby/Ballard action that I had to have. (It came to me w/a unknown bbl. & fence post wood !
I refitted the Scherer .28 bbl. to it & scratch-stocked it w/ the nifty wood pictured here. Although it’s a Schuetzen patterned Buttstock the rifle does weigh 14 3/4 lbs. w/o scope!
Should anyone have any questions or need additional data Re this rifle I’m always available @ 815 258 2270.

That's an appropriate weight for a .28/30.  They are not hunting rifles.
Fixed or Breech seated?  What bullet?
