	Here is a 38-55 Ballard. Bolivian rosewood stocks. The wood came across the border in 1957 by Bob Vails father. The palm rest and lever panels are Cocobolo The barrel is a Badger #4 at 32 inches. Rear sight is a Pope by Parts Unknown. Stocks carved by CPA. The action is from Cody Ballard. Weight is 15 pounds 7 ounces.

	Neat old custom Ballard. The stock looks like a repro of Schoyen perch belly and always like the ball & spur lever, especially with the wood insert.

	That butt stock is based on the "Pope Model," right out of the Stevens-Pope catalog. Attaching Pope's name to a product enhanced sales appeal back during the golden age of Scheutzen.

	Will hold them in the 24 ring so I figure it shoots perty accurate. When new it was not so accurate. One day it would shoot a six inch group and the next it might shoot a twelve inch pattern. Slugging showed no difference in diameters at either end so I spent a few hours lapping a very slight taper in the bore. Last time I used it in a match I was behind after three targets. Had to suck it up to win and I did with a 211 and a 220. Used it yesterday at Missoula. Perty pitiful but I ain't getting no younger.
