Another rabbit hole...

Print Post
I recently purchased a Borchardt "kit" from a friend that Rodney Storie did many years ago. Castings are of good quality with a bit of welding to correct a couple flaws. It is partially machined and already threaded for the barrel which is good. My problem is I need a good set of working drawings as I don't have access to an original. Anyone know of a source?

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I believe the ASSRA archives might have drawings for some old single shots. Might check there to see if they have what you want?

They do have the Borchardt.

I took my prints and scaled them up and printed on 11x17" paper.  Easier to read...

Got my Borchardt .50-90 SS rebarrel ready to test fire now. Making some new extractors and fitting one was fun Wink

jhm, I finally found where I'd stashed my big prints from Moeller but they are big - 30" by 40" or thereabouts.  I could probably take pics of individual parts that you might need and send them along or post them here...

Regards,
Joe

The prints are $15.00 post paid from the Archives. The sale of the prints helps keep the Archives open.

Here's some pictures of the Borchardt action cutaway that I found helpful when I was working on my kit.  I was also loaned an action by our Schützenmeister and could take measurements from it as well - a huge help.  Thanks Eric!

Regards,
Joe

P.S.  Thanks for the reminder Laurie.  $15 dollars is well spent and supports the organisation.

Thanks for sharing that JFeldman... reminded me that I should probably add a radius to the upper end of the extractor that meshes with the cocking plate on that right-hand side.

Saving these picts off for reference...

Where does this Borchardt cutaway reside these days? Is it at the Cody Museum by chance?

Cheers,
Jeff Pfeifer

Jeff, I have no idea where it resides these days.  I'm not positive but I think it was in an auction several years ago.

Another question and that is the upper tang is supposed to be held on with a screw? My action someone has welded the tang with the rear tang sight mount on it. It was not done very well but I can machine it out and make one more suited. Could someone possibly post a photo of the screwed on tang action?
Thanks...

Thank you Mr. Schutzenbob! As stated whoever installed and welded the present one didn't do a very good job so I am going to remove it and slightly clean up the width and make one that will be the screw on type. Thanks again...
