38-55 barrel advice

Gentlemen, I'm rebarreling a Ballard to 38-55 for BPCR silhouette. I want a lighter contour barrel this time but 32" long. I have the original forearm that fits an octagon 10" long 1.15" ATF. 2 questions:
Would a .930 diameter round transition work well from the octagon forward?
I would like to shoot a .376 dia, 1.35" long 350 grain lead greaser bullet. What twist rate? Thanks, Bob

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I wouldn't make the round transition much smaller than the flats on the octagon portion. Much of a step from octagon to round looks odd.
Twist rate for a 350 grain bullet is going to likely need to be pretty fast. At least a 15", and might even go 14" if you can find a .38-55 barrel with the faster twist and correct bore groove diameter.

My 38/56 Rolling Block has a 15 twist barrel and shoots a 320 grain bullet great.  I have never tried a longer bullet.  Tom
