My powder locker seems to have a stronger smell lately. Went thru and gave a sniff test and the IMR 4166 was really strong. I didn't find any recalls on the 'net'. Anyone else notice a strong odor from their stash?

No oder...however several years ago, I was looking in drawer for powder, I happened to pick up a can of IMR 3031...and it was Hot!  When opened, a reddish dust with a very offensive strong oder greeted me.  Got rid of that in a hurry.  That powder was probably 20 years old at the time.  Since then I have been checking my powders.
Seems like a good way to burn down a house!

The can of powder was on my desk as I was writing the post and could smell it even though it was screwed shut reasonably tight. Dumped it on my wood splitting log and lit it, problem solved.

To get rid of powder throw it on your lawn.  Expensive fertilizer.

I, as a DA kid, used 3031 from a 'rusty can'. Didn't notice any difference in how it worked. Don't remember now if I noticed any strange smell. Maybe never even thought of sniffing it. Just thought it was the steel can rusting ... perfectly normal, right?

About a 1/3 of the powders in my cabinet are 20+ years old.  Checked all my powders last weekend after reading this.  Shocked

I have several cans that are 30+ years old, after reading this post, I got worried. All are cool, but that brings up another question, should I be storing the powder outside in a waterproof container? The Kansas weather goes from -10 to 100+ depending on the time of year. I have about 30 pounds of smokeless.
