CPA Stock for Sharps rifle

I'm going to put a new stock on a Shiloh I have that the original stock had the LOP shortened, was cut down to fit the lady that use to own it, its a shame to as it sure is a pretty piece of walnut. I'm 6'4 with a pretty good reach so would like to put a longer one on it. Anyone re-stocked their rifle with a stock from CPA? And before everyone starts saying Treebone, I contacted him first but currently he only has 3 options and the one that comes close to what I'm wanting only comes with a shadow lined cheek rest and price seems pretty high for 30% figure and then I'd have to remove cheek rest, just more work for me. CPA has one that fits the bill for what I'm looking for plus I can request a longer LOP. Spoke with them and they said there's are inletted for an Original Sharps at 90 something percent so should work and if not I can return for full refund. I've done stocks before just cant shrink and existing inlet if its to big. Like to hear your experience getting one if anyone has. Thanks

I've got the same post over on the Shiloh forum site so those of you that frequent over there also will see it there to. Just trying to get some info before I spend some money!!!

I used a CPA pistol grip stock for a Swedish Rolling Block.
The fit was very good and only took a slight bit of work to get a precision fit.

CPA prices were excellent.
CPA provides an excellent selection for a decent dollar if you decide to upgrade your wood to something better than standard walnut.

I didn't ask Shiloh as I was told by a reliable source that they don't sell stocks for their rifles, so didn't bother asking them.

That is a pretty stock on your Rolling block, I was looking at their Fancy which is the third option for wood so was hoping it would come with some nice figure.

I did one for a 74 Sharps kit from them and the only problem I had was the area for the side plate wasn't quite right but it had enough wiggle room and a little extra wood where I needed it so I was able to make it work. Would buy again...

Thanks for the replies and info. I just got off the phone with Mike Basset and I'm going to get a stock and forearm from him. Got a few other projects I'm going to send his way also as his shop is only an hour and half from my house so that could be dangerous for my pocket book!!! Thanks

I needed a stock in a hurry and asked Gail for their least expensive straight grained blank pre-carved. It fitted up to the rifle pretty easy. Another stock from them with a $900 blank…No complaints

Gail and Joel have made me 7 stocks for me. A C. Sharps 50-90, 2 Borchardts, 2 Ballards and Two Rollers.  All of them were top notch and not a lot of machining to finish.  This included the fore ends as well.  I would caution to make sure they get the through bolt drill correct on the Borchardts.  One of mine was drilled a little cock-eyed.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Wish I could post something similar, but what I've gotten is the opposite.

Most CPA stocks are way oversize leaving a lot of wood work to get them to proper dimensions.

I'd have been fine with oversized. But when the top tang inletting is 1/8" deep, and lower tang inletting is 3/4" deep, it takes a lot of work to build up the lower inletting, and carve out the upper to make it usable!
