Scott, it's a lot of fun. We are less formal than most matches as we have it for 3 days and folks show up when they want to, and shoot any of the events when they wish to. Some of us are there for 3 days (like myself who generally brings 9-10 rifles).

BTW, based on your writeup in the last ASSRA Journal I just bought 3 bricks of the Lapua Midas + for my CPA .22 setup.

Willi,
Sounds like my kind of match! I really would enjoy shooting with you and Chris one day  Smiley
I’ve been really impressed with Lapua Midas consistency over the past few years. I hope to read you also had great results.
Take care my friend,
Scott

That is a beautiful rifle!  I've never owned a scoped single shot. But at 66, my eyes are fading. It seems like every time I go to the range it gets harder to see the sights. I have tang sights on many of my rifles and they help a lot, but the front sight is still a challenge. Plain barrel sights - forgetaboutit!

For the last year or so I've toyed with the idea of getting a nice period scoped rifle for informal bench target shooting out to 200 yards. I've always wanted a .32-40. So been thinking about a highwall, Stevens or Ballard. I really like your CPA. A rifle like that in .32-40 would do well for me. I know nothing about scopes, mounts etc. Would that scope be a good fit for my use? Does CPA sell the scopes also?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,  I’m like you and seeing sights.  Scopes and mounts are not a problem.  Easy to understand with some research and folks here are always willing to help.  CPA can drill holes for what you want.  I seem to lean toward the older scopes rather than reproductions, although I’m sure the new have benefits over the older versions.
My 44 1/2 in process, 32-40 with a 15 power Lyman.
My Ballard in 32-40 with a 25 power Lyman.
Both scopes are very nice, with fine cross hairs, and do the job.
Bob

Good Morning Steve,
Thank you for the kind words. I see a 32-40 in my future  Wink
I have really bad eyes and could not imagine shooting without a scope. I am a proponent of period/target scopes on single shot rifles.
Take Care,
Scott
