Belding and Mull measure drop tubes

I stopped into the B&M store this morning and saw that had a large selection of the micrometer drop tubes for the B&M measure. They have a good selection of sizes from the small to the Bigger than I want to have to use. I know the price on the biggest was $69.95 and less for each smaller size. (You need to Login or Register to view media files and links) is their website and I am sure they can ship them to you.

Goofy online store. They don't even list their B&M measures, or parts for them?
Did a search for "powder measure" and got a number of other brands, but not theirs. Parts search came up with nothing related to B&M Measures.

They may just be an instore item. I was told that once they are gone that would probably be it.  They do look like they are new stock and not old stuff they found laying around. Might be best to give them a call.

I've used one of their micrometer measures and found it to be a bit lacking. Maybe I got a bad one, maybe I wasn't dedicated to making it work, don't know. I reverted to the old standard tube and resumed enjoying the B&M measure.

I have though made fixed volume measures in the lathe for specific powder charges that I use a lot of, ie: small charges of Bullseye and Unique for pistol loads. They save a lot of time and aggravation twiddling the measure for 1/10 grain adjustments. (Although the cut-and-try method of going in and out of the lathe to make them perfect was aggravating and time consuming in and of itself, so I guess it's a wash in that regard!)

If the AI geeks really wanted to benefit mankind they would cook up a digitally mastered precision powder dispenser that operates via voice command. "Hey Siri, give me 14.2 grains of 4227 (and be quick about it)." (Do not do this while eating a ham sandwich, she might give you 42 grains.)

This is what I do too. I have the super nifty micrometer types that came with the old B&M measures but the simple muzzle loading measures work just fine for me. I drop  all my black powder through a 30" tube after it's in the measure.

Me, too but, when I got mine, I had to turn the OD about .005 to get it to fit.

Mine was slightly large too. But, I don't have a fancy lathe thingy so I twisted it around in some sandpaper until it fit. I figured I saved thousands of dollars by not having a lathe! Cheesy

MVA sells micrometer measures that seem to fit. I am thinking of using my B&M for bench loading at schutzen matches, but need a better drop tube. I think I'm going to end up with the MVA one, but time will tell...

Back in the day, before the Harrell measure took over the market, some serious bench resters built their own micrometer drop tubes using a Starrett micrometer stem and a properly sized body tube and plunger machined from brass.  A gunsmith friend of mine made me one 20+ years ago and it’s still the most accurate measure I own (even if it is slower than a Harrell).

In general the B&M measures are a PITA to operate.  They give good powder measurements, because the machine FORCES you to operate correctly to get reproducible measurements.  If one learns to operate an "ordinary" drum measure, e.g., a Hollywood type, properly, they will do as good and be a lot handier.  I have owned a B&M measure, and gave it away.

I use a B&M with BP only with charge tubes made with 2 pieces of hardware store brass tubes one glued inside the other that use a threaded rod to adjust the charge.  They cost only a few bucks.  I measure the depth with a caliper.  I removed the handle and spring and just shuttle the sliding part back and forth by hand.  It works great.

My B&M is used for PuffLon only. Works excellent for that. Had a Harrell measure.

I have a few B&M measures and find them
really good measures for 4759 and other bigger kernel powders.

I have a brass tube B&M measure and used to use it a lot, but my Harrell's is all I use also. A couple years ago a friend stumbled across a plastic hopper B&M brand new in it's original box and offered it to me cheap, so I had to buy it. It just sits on a shelf looking pretty.
