I took the firing pin out of my other Peterson  "Gorgeous Ugly"  it is also A #6 action with center fire firing pin and in a 22 RF.Though it is almost twice the diameter...Hmmmm It would not fit into the other #6 because of the larger dia if pin.I will make another firing pin with A shorter shaft,we'll see.....

I'd check firing pin protrusion through the face of the breech block. Should be .040"-.050", anything greater needs to be reduced to at least .050" 
I have a couple Ballard rifles with CF breech blocks, plus a number of RF blocks, and the CF with offset barrels work fine and never a misfire or hard hit. The #3 rimfire pins have tips shaped more rectangular and not round tips.
