Winchester 1885 Hi-Wall non-std adjustable trigger (Read 2315 times)

	Again, ... seeking info and education. This much-worked-over high-wall trigger has a single, blued, slotted-head adjustment screw. It does not appear original. Is any information (or even speculation) available regarding who might have done such work? or when? Could this have been a mail-order item 100 years, or so ago? Thanks much, as ever. PS. Hope I got the attachments 'attached'

	From the pictures it looks like a standard single set trigger with the adjustment screw replaced with a larger, longer one.

	Or could be an over-travel adjustment screw modification. Cock the hammer on an empty chamber and turn the screw in; if it fires it is a set screw and if it does not fire and trigger will no move any further it’s an over-travel screw. Good luck.

	Most excellent info. Thanks. The screw looked way longer than anything New Haven would have put on. I will do the tests -- but may have to wait until I get other work done (a project, ineed). Just what I needed to know. Cheers & holiday best to all.

	Since the screw is in the yrigger itself, i would say it us trigger travel stop screw

	I just happened to have a non-set trigger high wall with a trigger that has the standard set trigger screw hole. I inserted a 1/2" long screw and turned it all the way in. It made no difference in trigger travel or other functions

	2nd the opinion that looks like the right location for a single set trigger screw with an extra extra long replacement screw the spring looks high compared to factory original and the flats on the trigger appear below the tang more than average to me swapping tangs and parts was often done and no reason the gun can't still have the wonderful trigger feel 1885s are know for pics of tang removed from gun and different angle would shed more light on the situation

	Another thanks, especially for the pictures, Rob. They are good enugh to show that mine is adjustable, but most likely not a set trigger as there is no screw on the front of the trigger. Happy Holidays to all.... Rob (too).

	There is only 1 screw for the single-set trigger. Here are the parts from the MVA site.
