Happened on this Roux based rifle this morning. Not a saddle carbine but I would own it!

Mercy. A full-stocked kiplauf nicely done and in a practical caliber. What's not to like?

I've got one of those but, minus the DST, full forestock and nice butt stock.

It's called a Savage 219   Wink

I honestly have never seen a more modern scope with a mount on the objective bell end but it looks so perfect on this rifle!

How are the "rings" attached to the scope ?

The “rings” are essentially clamps, that attach to a rib on the bottom of the scope tube.

Back in the 1970s, Bushnell played with several variations of the idea, but it never took off.

Popular in Germany and Austria however

It looks like the barrel was lined for the 30-30. I wonder what it was before . . . probably 8.15x46R

If anyone has some of those "clamps" from Bushnell I would certainly be interested.  Purchased more than one scope with an intregal rail for the rigidity. The 'clamps' are the difficult to find part of that assembly.

The German/Austrian versions of the mount (clamps) are the upper portions of the claw mounts. Often a scope is changed the the mount is not re-used because of not being of the required dimension for the new scope. Generally the mounts are sold new as sets with the claws (front and rear) precisely mated. When the old scope is removed the base in the barrel is often left installed as a "filler block" and a new base is installed in the barrel for the new scope. long guns here are often seen with 2 or more scope mount bases and people erroneously assume there is a second scope that goes with the gun. It can be but it is seldom the case. If a scope with claw mounts is to be refitted to another rifle it is generally much easier to acquire a new set of mounts.

Here is a photo of similar claw mounts on my 8X48R Sauer.
