"Typically, .22 LR tends to be quite unforgiving to shooter mistakes."

If that's true I'd like to know what ammo is forgiving to shooter mistakes. That's the ammo I want to use. Need all the help I can get.

Can you post a picture of your rifle and sling?
75 meters indoors? That's impressive too.

Joe,

Attached 2 pics of the rifle - basically a bog-standard BSA 12/15 with an typical period 2-point sling, original PH7A rear sight.  Only modifiction is stripping the varnish and giving the stock an english oil finish.  Even the buttplate is still original...

I don't even use a handstop when shooting, as it is my practice rifle for my 32-20 BPCR - no handstop allowed.

And for me, I tend to think the larger calibre CF's are less sensitive than the humble .22 to shooter error.  Why, good question.  Maybe the greater recoil pulse 'kicks' through some minor inconsistencies?

Thanks. I have a #12 Martini but have never shot it in the prone position. Have wondered what the sling looks like and how it is used.

Standard 2-point sling, both attachment points on the forearm.   This sling has hooks. And it even is period correct for the rifle.

Gert, it is a very handsome rifle with those stocks you refinished. It makes me nearly ashamed of the Tikka T1X I have in the safe. Accurate, but not a whisper of a soul, unlike your 12/15 -- rather like an electric train vs. a steam locomotive.
I hope you are well.

Bill,

All well here, and yes, those BSA's not only have lots of character, they're also extremely accurate while also being proper steel and walnut rifles.  Fro mthe time when rifles were still machined from steel...

Last sunday´s outing, 10 shots. Still need to address those flyers.  But if it were easy, it wouldn´t be fun, right?

What ammo are you using in shooting that group?

Also, it seems you are dealing with vertical here.
Sling tension varying?
Post or aperture front sight? A post front can be harder to hold your vertical.

Gert,
In any event, that is good position sling shooting.
Good choice of ammo.
I shoot SKLRM in several competitions from 100 to 300yds
with my Martini Int'l MKIIs. I have a heavy, and a light model.
i am "almost" sorry I had sold my 12/15 rifle that shot Very Well. But on the other hand, I got a young fellow shooting it and he too has won matches with it.
