Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

That is a great picture , looks like a beautiful day , I would guess with the silo in the back ground that those deer have been feeding on corn or alfalfa all summer , it also looks like the dog has been eating well too . Please share your story on how you bagged your deer with that great looking rifle .

I used to work on that farm summers when I was in high school and few years after full time. Cows are gone now and the land rented. Over 300 acres of corn now.  Monday was the third day of rifle season and 24° in the morning. I hadn't seen a deer the two days previous. I still-hunted up a valley about as far as I could go and stood watch in a good spot. The wind had come up a little and by 9:40 I was pretty cold and decided I'd stick it out 'till 9:45. In a few minutes I saw this doe coming directly at me, very slowly, through sparse brush. I lost sight of her for a few minutes and when I saw her again she was about 25 yds away. She dropped in her tracks and I wasn't cold anymore. Smiley

Thanks for sharing your story , has to be very rewarding to go back and hunt on the same ground you spent time on as a teenager , still making memories!

I don't think I've missed an opening day there since I was 17.
