Forget the back up sights; add some back up lights! And turn signals too! Those picatinny rails are supposed to have all their slots filled!

I did pick up a 2”x5” x 22” long piece of walnut locally a couple of days ago.  It should make 2 forends 2” deep. I think that wall be enough for the RKS hanger.
Too many projects. I wanted to make one of my breech seaters in 25 Hornet and ended up making 6 brass bodies (in progress).  I messed up one and had to repair it so it will be the one I use. That is why I have 7 or 8 high wall seaters!

Jack:

I am surprised you have not picked Westerner's stash of walnut. He used to have tons of it.

Too expensive to ship.  I hate doing woodworking, but have made forends for round barrels.  I mounted a router upside down in the table of my little Makita table saw that allows the use of the fence. A 1” Grizzly router bit and away I go. Sandpaper on a wooden dowel as needed.
The piece of Walnut I got was less than $30 with tax

Jack, you need to take that hanger stuff off there and return it back to the way the creator made it and intended for it to be. Aluminium has no place on antique single shot rifles. Same goes for plastic.

When I get a new forend on it you won’t see the aluminum Wes. I promise not to take the forend off when you are around. You will forget it is there.

How about my 32-40 Ballard when I have my offhand stock on it. The prong buttplate is made of….  You guessed it: aluminum!

The forend is done.  The front 10 inches is not touching the barrel.  I needs to be darker someday, buy I am hoping to make it to te range tomorrow.
