This is my second hauck on a Storie action casting. The first followed the original Hauck design whereas this one made several departures.

1. Mann Niedner firing pin.
2. Rebounding hammer including block modification.
3. The development of a loading position.
4. Greatly improved disassembly.
5. 9 o'clock extractor.
6. Redesign of the lever spring system; smoother operation.

I am a bit sorry about that large SWFA scope. It is my choice for accuracy but just does not look right. I will use it to ring out accuracy and then replace with an older 10x Weaver, I think.

Most unfortunately, your "The Magic of the Internet" IMGUR image comes up as a solid deep grey screen on my computer.  In fact, I can't access any IMGUR-related images.  SIGH!

I wish that all problems could be measured in inches. I understand inches. Delving into the workings of internet; not so much. Can you see the above image?

I see the picture.  The gun is looking good!  While I’m not familiar with the action, it sounds like you are making some needed improvements.

Here is a storie casting gibbs in 30-30 I am just finishing after 25 years. I added a through bolt to the butt stock. So far I have resisted the urge to put in a transfer to deal with that up hill firing pin! I would love to put a lyman alaskan on it and bust a whitetail!

Many thanks for adding the photos!  Those are both interesting rifles, though I am partial to the Gibbs.

Yes, the Gibbs was designed as a hunting firearm and the Hauck as a 'bench gun' for extreme accuracy. They are very different. Wilber Hauck later tried several things to make his action more acceptable as a hunter. It did not work out too well mainly because the action is rather large for field use. It, however, is a wonderful varmint action!
