Sorry about straining at gnats and the blur. I tried to enlarge the pic I found. The first 2 cans (the oldest) say DuPont Sporting Rifle Powder, DuPont (in logo), 4759. The 3rd says DuPont (in logo), SR 4759, Sporting Rifle Powder. The last says IMR (in logo), SR 4759, Smokeless Powder. The point is that there was never an "IMR 4759" but there was an "SR 4759" marketed by the company IMR. I had a keg of SR 4759 in the 60s that lasted me through the first hiatus and a keg in the revival that lasted me until the word came out that it was bye bye again, at which point I loaded up on containers. There was a change in the load required for my 38-55 between the pre and post hiatus of 1/2 grain. Nothing new there. I had a nasty shock between two cans of IMR 4320 (by DuPont). When the last of my SR 4759 is used up I might try some Accurate 4100. It would be nice to be able to meter a load and not have to weigh every one.

Keep your powder dry, Ken, the South will rise again! Although with the temps I've been seeing for Cruces, that shouldn't be a problem.

If you refer to “Propellant Profiles”  Wolf publishing they mention 4759 was brought out just before WW2 to replace Sporting Rifle # 80.  May be able to find their answer to letter I wrote asking if SR 80 data in old manuals like Sharpes could be used with 4759.

Answer was a qualified yes. In practice I often used # 80 data with 4759 loads successfully.  If I can find the letter will post it
