Remington Rolling Block Target Rifle

I have a number of single shot rifles, mostly Sharps. I have never been a fan of Remington rolling blocks until I saw this one. I bought it and it shoots great.

Now I have to decide whether to keep it or sell it to get another Winchester.

It is a medium range target rifle with all deluxe features including a horn forend. It is a 40-50 Sharps Bottleneck. It is such a beautiful gun, I had to get it.

Beautiful "Short-Range" Remington target rifle! And as you probably know, a very rare variation in spectacular condition! Congratulations!

WOW!  That rifle chimes a lot of bells and I'm surprised that you should question keeping it (though it should certainly help you acquire an equally fine Winchester)!  But for now, congratulations indeed!

While I bleed Winchester I think I would have to hang on to that one...

Remington rolling block target rifles have always been my favorites. So accurate, so well made, so beautiful and so much history.
Gorgeous rifle! Thank you for sharing.  Smiley

I am surprised to see a set trigger on a target gun but then again I have no idea what the rules for "Mid-range" were. None the less, beautiful piece!

The .40-50 chambering makes this a "Short-Range" not a "Mid-Range" target rifle. And any of the Rolling Block target rifles could be special ordered with a set trigger, although for certain matches like Creedmoor the set trigger would make it illegal to compete with.

I have original short range, mid range and longrange rolling block target rifles. The hardest for me to find was the short range. They dont usually bring as much but I swear you see 10 longrange guns for every short range. Thats a nice one

This is 2 groups at 200 yards with the sights that are on the gun. First group is low, a slight adjustment on the tang peep and 2 more. The bead on the Beeches front sight completely covers the target at that range…

That’s a long barrel for a short range

As adults we have choices, go for another Winchester
