Stevens #40 pocket rifle

Would anyone out there have a picture of the hammer and trigger out of a Stevens #40, 40 1/2, or 35 Offhand pistol/rifle? I've got one I'm working on and Bubba got to these parts with a Dremel tool. They are ground down so bad I can't tell what the parts actually looked like. The #40 has a frame smaller than a tip-up rifle and bigger than the #41-#43 pistol which had spur triggers.

Assuming that your # 40 has a trigger guard and considering how may # 35 pistols were made, I'd look for one of the latter from which the trigger and hammer can be salvaged.

From Stevens #54 catalog (1914) Hope this helps. While I have never owned a pocket rifle, there was improvements over the years to the pocket rifles and certainly to the model 35 as it was popular and made for many years. So there will be variations in parts.

Thanks, that helps. The hammer I have looks different but the trigger/sear I thought was broken off has just been filed on a little. I may try to reshape the hammer before I order one since I'll have to build up sear anyway.

Where can one "order" parts for a 120-year-old Stevens #40?

If Stevens ran true to form, hammer and trigger are case hardened mild steel.  A skilled welder can build up the damaged portions, to be remachined and re-case-hardened.
