Anyone out there own a Wickliffe rifle?

I'm looking for anyone that owns a Wickliffe. I purchase a Wickliffe Kit about 25 years ago and would be interested in talking to someone that has one. Hopefully the discussion will led to moving forward with the project or possible just selling the kit and purchasing what I want.

I have one…I’d be happy to answer any of your questions, if I’m able.

The kit I have is for a 22 Hornet, so i figure the extractor is made for that small caliber. I you have a lager caliber I like to see a photo of it to see if I'll have to make alteration to it and if so what.

I’m traveling today, but I’ll get a photo of the extractor to you when I return home tomorrow.  My rifle is chambered for .243 Winchester, so there may also be a difference owing to the rimless cartridge.

Image links to photos of the Wickliffe extractor.  The breech block has been removed for the photos.  The last two pictures are looking up through the bottom of the action.

A couple of days ago, RBKenn sold a Wickliffe kit in the classifieds.  The way I read his listing, he may have some other extractor sizes.  You may want to get in touch with him...if he's willing to part with one that may be much easier than modifying what you have.

Bob, one more thing:  if you decide it's too much trouble and you just want to sell your kit, please keep me in mind.

Thanks,
Josh

Thanks for the photos Josh. What caliber is yours?  It appear to be a rimless.  I don't think it makes a difference rim or rimless with the way it fits.  I will definitely keep you informed if I decide to sell it.
likely in the next few weeks.

Your comment “don’t need another safe queen” is spot on. My advice is settle exactly what you want to do with a single shot, then look at successful competitors, hunters, plinkers etc rifles.

Example I have owned several 45/70 rifles don’t need that cartridge for anything I currently shoot. Match I shoot most 38/55 is optional, this proven by long history of match results other competitors. Used to shoot a lot of 32/40 and still own one, no competion driving distance suitable for it today. Use it as back up in local matches, it’s a slight disadvantage compared to 38/55.

Another factor all rifle competition has some sort of equipment rule. Make sure were you invest time and money qualifies.   Same factors affect hunting rifles . Don’t need big cartridges to hunt small game, small calibers not suitable for big critters.

Start with intended use, then pick the rifle

Thanks Boats.  I've been thinning my herd lately and I'm down three.  But then I went out and pick a Browning high wall in 40-65. So down 3, up one, that's a net loos of two. I figure I making progress. I have one more for sure and another possible that's will be going out as soon as I can get them sold. Honestly this a bucket list purchase. I have some friends, SS/BP rifle,  that are trying to pull me down the rabbit hole with them. I have to admit their not having to pull vary hard. My intention is to have fun and fun is shooting the tights groups as far out as I can.

I started this post talking about a Wickliffe project. After sending it down the road to a good home, I purchased a Browning High Wall. I'm looking forward to getting it dirty.
