Martini Rimfire to Centerfire

Recent post about converting mentioned Welding the Breach Block and redrilling the F.P Hole.  I've compared a Rimfire Block with a Centerfire Block and the only difference I can see is the Recess where the Ears on the Operating Lever bear.  Would it be easier to shorten the "Ears" dropping the Block down further rather than go through all the weld, drill etc work?  I bet someone who's good at figuring Right Triangle Problems could even  give an amount to remove.  Or do I need more Coffee? It's Monday 😣. David

I have seen center fire converted to rim fire but not rim fire to center fire by lowering the block. I never liked the idea for the look of the block not matching frame walls. Would the locking ears be subjected to thrust do to changing the breach face angle? Not a concern with a rim fire conversation. Just some thoughts.

The ears can be shortened to lower firing pin. As for how much I can't help. I take a little off and see how much it moves and continue til it's in the right spot. Many of the cadets were changed to rimfire by forging the lever out to raise the block.  Sometimes the firing pin hole needs to be bushed.

If you can find a centerfire breech block the easy way to convert is swap
breech blocks.
