Stuck case

I remember reading about cerrosafe to remove stuck case, but forgot about that trick.  I ordered some, and will try it immediately.  I like the idea of air pressure, and will try it.  Also like the grease idea, but don't know how to attach a grease zerk to a .17 muzzle.  Thanks for all ideas so far. The grease method involves a fitting that presses against the end of the barrel, google "Ron Hendrickson "for a video on this method. Need the case to be complete. Very effective way, but messy. Cerrosafe method is best suited to a case where the head has ripped off the case, block the bore a bit past the mouth of the case and pour in cerrosafe, allow to set then tap out from the muzzle end with (preferably) a brass rod

Failure!   The stuck case will not budge.  Cerrosafe set up nicely, but cannot pound out with rod from muzzle with a large ball peen hammer.   Tried oil in barrel for hydraulic pressure, but .17  barrel forms air bubbles that I could not remove.  I really think the chamber has been expanded and locked the case in place.  oldwyo

Looks like your remaining choices are reline the chamber or fit a new barrel.

Not sure if you can drill into the primer area and insert a screw or even better, a dent puller, to try and inertia-hammer the case out?

Will have to heat and melt the cerro-safe stuff out first

Drill and tap the Cerrosafe and pull it with a slide hammer.

Or, if you want to push it out hydraulically, you need to use grease instead of oil.  A standard grease gun will push out every stuck case  and squib bullet I’ve ever tried.

Have tried to soak it with Kroil..?

Kroil by Kano Industries has the best penetrating oil I've ever used.

Well worth a try.!

Used to be you could only get it on line but just now I went to their web site and they have a retail vendor search tool.
If you are too far from one and you don't want to spend the $$ (The best is not cheap), send me a PM
and I'll mail you some of the original formula.
I see that they also sell a product that includes graphite as well...!

Today is 8/29, I'm leaving town for two weeks on Wednesday 8/31. If I hear back before I leave I can mail it.

I have removed stuck cases, with no damage to the chamber, by screwing a tap into them and tapping out from the front.

Any stuck case I ever saw will pop out by using a steel cleaning rod from the muzzle with a round jag and a a couple licks with a rubber mallet or similar impacting tool. Pouring Cerrosafe only helps the case stay stuck as the brass’s ability to give is lessened.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Get the Cerrosafe out of there first. If the chamber is bulged the Cerrosafe is helping to lock the bulged case into the chamber.
Once the Cerrosafe is out, then drill and tap the primer pocket for a fine thread screw, and put a screw in the hole. Then use a slide hammer to extract the case. I have an old slide hammer I welded a small pair of Vise-Grip pliers to and I use it to pull all sorts of stuck parts on guns and cars.
If it wont pull this way, it may mean the gun needs either a new barrel, or the chamber sleeved and rechambered.

Isn't this the rifle that has the headless broken case?
