Told another member that I would email him these pictures. Decided to share them here for all to see.

Thanks!
Lovely old Low Wall, and very typical of Samuel Tobias stock work I've seen. He's not been given the credit he should, and his work is exceptional.

There are a few old articles on Tobias. He was an interesting gunsmith and a great inventor. I think he held the patent that timed machine gun fire between the blades of our earliest military prop aircraft.

I’ve seen a few Rolling Block pistols customized by Tobias as well.

Carl Gustav Swebelius invented the timing mechanism to prevent machineguns from shooting the props on airplanes when he worked for Marlin-Rockwell during WWI. Gus went on to start Hi Standard Firearms Co. around 1926 or so, after leaving Marlin.

In addition to his interrupter, Gus held a couple dozen patents for machine guns, shotguns, and pump action rifles while he worked for Marlin, and later at Hi Standard.
Another overlooked firearms genius.

It was a pleasure to see your photos.  Thanks for sharing.

Many moons ago I had a custom high wall built by Hal Hartley with a similar piece of curly maple.  That was a varmint rifle chambered in .219 Donaldson Wasp.

"During WW I Tobias worked at McCook Field, now Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and developed a way to mount a machine gun on a biplane so the bullets would go between the propellers of the airplane rather than hitting the propellers."

... slightly different than I wrote above but same outcome.  Smiley
