There is a widely held belief among 65 -70 year old collector/shooters of Ballard rifles that every time one brings home a newly acquired Ballard, that act extends one’s lifespan a minimum of 6 months! This belief always serves to justify one more Ballard.
Here then is one I’d have to consider one of my favorite .25 cal. shooters. (Also known as a quarter bore.) This bbl. is an older 8 groove Shilen, 1:12” twist, #4 wt. 28” full oct. chambered for .25/20 S.S. built around 2005.
I stocked it from scratch and Doug Mann did the checkering. I remember this blank being gifted to me by John Amber and him telling me he thought he remembered someone sending it to him from New Zealand.
These .25 cals. are quite pleasant to shoot w/a bbl. clamp rest as they barely jump off the target between shots. I have 2 bullets that work equally well in this rifle: one is a Vietz, the other a Zika. Both at 99 gr. and breech seat as cast over 8.0 gr. of #4227 powder.

How much more beautiful that rifle would be if it were correct. That being it should be for a right hand shooter....such as myself!
Gorgeous rifle.

Another rifle that would make me learn to shoot left-handed.

There's already way too many right handed rifles out there!
Let us southpaws have a few okay?

I love the fiddleback in the buttstock ... you must have started from a great stock blank.
