Wes,
the JG weld is looking good- real good for 6011!  6013 or 7014 and DC if it's available is what lazy machinist use...  Tractor Supply usually has this in the smaller rods too...

Bob,
I saved a barrel or two of aluminum shavings once and made some patterns for different butt plates, even went as far as making a foundry (Steve Chastain's plans) bought a crucible and degassing pellets, just haven't got a round tuit yet... maybe the mights will fly someday soon and I'll cast a few.

I'm being lazy I know, instead of gigging folks like this on the forum I could be doing these things... Wink
Greg

Other folks are doing it and in all honesty this is now becoming a dying sport and one of the past. There is really no sense in doing it right now but hopefully I am also dead wrong with having my own personal belief?

Thanks, Dave.

Dave, while looking through Dutchers book, I didn't see a smaller version of the late #6 plate. Had you taken a wee nip of the ole Irish whiskey the day you made that mold?  Huh

Yes they do but they are small. 4.65 in height.

No problem just cut them in half add 3/8 weld grind and then bend the lower prong down.  One wouldn't think those small changes would make much of a difference but once done it makes a noticeable difference in looks and feel. Like an original.  Smiley
