Assembling a Martini Schuetzen
Mar 26th, 2021 at 8:16pm
Print Post
I recently came by a Martini schuetzen with a striker action.  I managed to get the block out of the gun (it actually jumped out when I removed the block pivot pin) but I can't get it back in.

Internally the rifle looks a lot like another striker Martini I have, and, if I fiddle around with it, I can get the block back in that one, but not this one.

Is there some trick to this?

A pic of the side of the block and one down into the receiver.

Thanks

Smoke,  the Sear lever dead center back of action has to go into the slot in the striker. Pull the trigger and open the finger lever the sear lever should be free to pivot forward. With the finger lever forward the breechblock should go in nose down in the front, it should reconnect and top pin go back in. May take a few 4 letter words hair pulling and a few cans kicked accross the floor. Sear lever has to rotate forward to catch the striker!

Some rifles are easier than others, but with a rifle giving issues, best to put the rifle on a rest, so you have both hands available.
Then it's just uncocking the action so the sear lever is forward (uncocked / fired position), action closed - and extractor forward.  Insert the block at the right angle (tricky bit) and press down on the rear of the block with the heel of your hand, while using the the other hand to wiggle the lever a bit .  Once you have the knack, it becomes easy.  But the 1st time can be frustrating...
