Beautiful Rifle my Friend and what a wonderfully tasting meal you have just bagged. Haven't shot any in long time out my way and it brings back great memories of days now being long gone.

Doubt it. I can't see any center adjustment.

Beautiful rifle!  I love the closed loop lever.  We have very few tree squirrels in my neck of the woods and I shot one once and it was somewhat tougher than shoe leather so I never shot another.  If we had better habitat with more trees with nuts they would probably be edible.  Also, if there were more of them then I am sure that I could perfect a recipe. Wish we had squirrels out this way. Everything here is protected. Even jackrabbits are so scarce as to be protected. Habitat has gone to farmland. There used to be rabbit drives in the Basin, hundreds of hunters and hundreds of rabbits.  Bygone days.

Wild rabbit and squirrel among others is tenderized by an acid marinade. Red wine, lemon juice, sometimes even cider vinegar. Overnite to 24 hours usually works. Too long and I suspect it turn to mush. Never left it that long. I seem to remember sauerbraten taking longer.

Hunting squirrel with a rimfire is prime stalk and accuracy type hunting. I’ve spend hours trying to get a nice gray to come around the corner for a shot. They are smart and if you’re not careful it’s easy to destroy the best meat so it’s head shots. When I lived and hunted in NH I could hang my jacket or vest on a branch and stalk the other side of a tree for a shot but for some reason here is Western, MI that trick doesn’t work too well ? Right now where I’m living it’s all white oaks and we have nice grays, reds ( don’t eat ) big fat fox squirrels and black squirrels. More squirrels than I’ve ever seen so it’s squirrel central in West Michigan.

Burnt water, I have a place west of Ludington 6 miles southeast of Fountain. Next time I head up there I'll PM you and maybe we can get together somewhere for coffee.
