It must be hot up there to have flies out already. Or are those just giant snow flea's?

Cluster fly’s. Google it. We can thank the Forest Service for them. They come into our cabins by the thousands in late September and then “revive” anytime the cabin gets warm. They were imported to stop the Spruce Budworm. Spruce Budworms live in the tops of the spruces. The Cluster Fly lays it’s eggs on the ground where the hatching larvae burrow to seek out an earthworm host. Go figure. I have swept up a gallon bucket of them off the cabin floor after bug-bombing the place. I would love to see proof of a single Budworm dying from Cluster Fly’s.

It's difficult to measure for a B&C. What do you do? Add the bullet's diameter to what is left?

I'd use the groove measurement, and bunch the splat up into a small pile?

Uncharted ground.....
I’ll assemble a beta scoring committee and supply refreshments conducive to a constructive, suggestion producing environment Wink as soon as the snow melts and targets emerge. I do like the groove diameter suggestion as it will quickly bring to surface a handicap constant for those entering trophies taken with .458” groove equipment vs. say a .17cal.

I’ll be holed up in the garage today turning a Heavy Diptera taper on my next BRC barreled fly-swatter!
