Does anyone have a drawing or photo of a 44 dst, that is different from DeHaas?
DeHaas states that the 44 is essentially the same as the 44 1/2,  but the fly from a 44 1/2  will not work in mine.  completely different design.   Or just a photo of the hammer fly is really all I need.

The one that came with mine did not work, so using the old one as a pattern (thinking it was just worn down) I made a new one.  It doesn't work right either.  I can't grasp the physics  how it works,  so I need a picture.

Good question and thought it would to be simple to answer.
Realized I don't have a procedure for fitting a fly although done it many times.
Attached is a PDF that shows the general principles. Don't have a picture.

Excellent drawing! Thanks a lot Chuck! Hopefully it gets made a "sticky".

This might make it easier for a Sticky, if Chuck doesn't mind.

If you, Chuck, let me know and I'll delete it.

FWIW I actually have a complete and working DST 44 action, if I can be of any help.

The fly pivots on the hammer screw.

Phil,

Is your 44 fly located centrally, or in a shallow pocket cut into the hammer's side?

A pocket on the side.

Best photo I can get without daylight.

The whole assembly will interchange with the 44 1/2, but now we know that it's not 100% congruent internally. You can see that the fly isn't worn symmetrically, due to its' being offset like that. Pretty obvious that's why the 44 1/2 fly is centered in the hammer.

Phil,

That reminds me of the early WRA lever gun single set triggers. The Model 1873 hammer used a fly that was pocketed into its side, and later WRA shifted the position of the fly further inward.
Looks like Stevens may have repeated a somewhat similar sequence later on in time.

My model 44 with dst has a broken hammer, will a 44 1/2 hammer work? Also where to find one?
The fly is also missing.

A 44 1/2 hammer should work. I'm holding the hammer from my own DST 44 up against a new one from a DST tang assembly bought from CPA Rifles, and I can't see any difference save the location of the fly as previously posted. So I'd order one from CPA. Make sure they know that it's for an original rifle, not their replica. Get the whole assembly, fly and the spring link, too. They changed a couple of pin diameters from what my original assembly had, so don't count on using your original link.
