H. Pieper Marksman

I saw a rifle on an auction site that had no name associated with it.   It looked too good, so I bid and won.  After the auction was over I pulled out a DeHass book: Single Shot Rifles and Actions, and figured it to be an H. Pieper Marksman.  De Hass did not review it favorably but I thought it looked elegant and it had all the attributes I look for:  Poor fitting stock, rust, moderate mechanical issues and nice lines.   So, I am wondering if any of you have such a rifle.  I am also wondering about the caliber designation stamped in the barrel:  "380".  I presume rimfire?  The auction house described it as: "30cal.?, s/n 9782, rifle, brl length 28" octagonal, falling block, fair condition, "380" stamped left side of barrel on flat just in front of serial number, having Belgium proofs, all metal surfaces show light rust, fixed rear with brass front sights, smooth walnut replacement butt stock w/checkered foregrip that has thinning checkering, bore has shine with nice rifling shows dirt, hammer spring is weak."  I am probably looking at re-chambering and moving the firing pin to centerfire.  Thinking any feedback and knowledge you have to share would be appreciated.
