My best guess is that this problem is caused by the link pushing the hammer back a bit too much at that binding point, because the MVA part has a little more material in this area.  Removing a small amount of material from the camming lobe of your LINK might remedy this real quick.   And then that small part is easy enough to re- surface harden.

But then on second thought, with so many functions being interconnected, so to speak, in the 1885, that process could create or increase firing pin tip drag in the fired primer??   So your mileage may vary from my experiences!
