Borchardt strength

I have a Borchardt rifle that is already altered , barrel changed and new stocks . I was considering rebarreling and would like thoughts on action strength . Was thinking about 257 roberts rimmed (would use 7x57 rimmed cases) . I have seen a couple in 25 Krag and would think they would be in the same pressure range . Rifle would be used for plinking and a little deer hunting.

Thanks for any of your thoughts

Dales,
I've shot my Borchardt for 30 years w/o any issues. I've shot high pressure loads in both 45/70 and my 33 ELCO Max. I've blown primers in both those cases, too.

I just bought my second one (complete action) last Saturday, at a local gun show Smiley

The only draw back to the Borchardt's is the 90 deg breech block, not the best for a quick second shot, if the chamber isn't clean or the COAL grows w/o knowing. The other thing that it needs for a quick second shot, is extractor work for rims smaller than 45/70. The extractor needs to be taller, to keep the rim from going past it, even for 30/30 rims.

They are my favorite action and just as modern as a Miller/Dehaas.
