Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

I wish I had taken pictures of all my No. 1 hunts/kills...

Even now, when technology makes it SO easy, I find myself lacking in that simple little step...

Yep, I've taken three deer with my #1 and only once did I have a camera with me.

I hunted deer with a Number 1 in .243 Win for many years, then traded it for a Number 1 in .280 Remington.  You learn to make your first shot count when you use a single shot.  Killed deer quite often between the two of them.

I've taken 12 whitetails with a Ruger #1b, 30-06. Ranges were between 40 to 150 yards. Have also missed a few that should have been easy shots. I like the #1 but the stock fit is wrong for me, too long. Last year I traded the old red pad Ruger for a Pendersoli 3 band Sharps that has been bored out to 45-120. I believe it is the sniper version as it has double set triggers. Haven't taken it out hunting ... yet.

Most of the season I devote to hunting with some Ruger #1.  I have about 15 to choose from.  My favorite is an RSI 30-06 with canjar set trigger and schmidt and bender scope.  Compact, great looker and super performer.  Like your 25-06!

A beautiful No1. Are those scope rings the early Ruger rings? If they are, they really missed the boat when they discontinued them. If they are not, whose rings are they, if I might ask?

I have a #1v in 25-06, harvested whitetail and pronghorn with it, I’ve gotten older and have gone to a lighter rifle. It is in the gun safe waiting for another trip for Wyoming pronghorn. Never fired anything but reloads, if I do my part, it groups under an inch at 100yrds. It was my first single shot.
