Quick repair of broken Unertl micrometer

The adjustments on my scope were hard to turn. I tried cleaning and lubing. I spoke with Richard Parsons, about it. The spring steel disk is hand set then the square post is pened. As he explained someone had a heavy hand on mine. He warned me that the old disks were brittel. He was right. I came up with a way to loosen them up. It worked on the elevation knob but the disk cracked on the windage, causing it to be very loose.
To fix it I used the same fixture to press out the center shaft with the square end. I used a small arbor press and the bottom half of a punch die as a holder.Just a light press here will loosen a tight adjuster. If as I did you make it too loose, you now have to retighten it. Thats where the spring disk can brake. You need to fit something over the the square post and press down only on the spring disk not touching the post. I decided not to try using the old post so I removed it at the base.
Drilled and tapped it 5-40 found a screw 5-40 the right lenght. The last thing was the spring disk. I made one from one of those big spring paper clips. It was a fast and easy fix. I don't have clicks any more, the disk would need a detent.I tried to punch one in but screwed up a disk. I know I can do it but don't care for them clicks anyway.

Great work, but not sure I understand because never messed with one.
Wondering how you keep the #5 x 40 screw from loosening or tightenimg when you rotate the adjustment knob.?
Looks like the screw would need to be fixed in the base shoe that rides on the scope.
Maybe I just don't understand how it works.

Yes, I forgot to mention I used loc-tite. The screw it's self does not  turn. Just a drop on threads going into shoe/anvil.
