Missouri whitetail and a Martini

Every year I spend several days in the same tree stand, it has proven to be productive and in the timber 120 yards is about as far as I get a shot. This little buck was taken at 115 yards with a 25-35 Winchester Martini Cadet. The rifle likes 100 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. I have it set up for a tang sight but this trip had a Unertl 3X Small Game scope mounted. On the same trip in the same stand I also took a doe with a roller in 38-80 Remington with cast bullets. This year will be the same stand with a 32-40 Remington #1 1/2 rolling block with a new Borchardt Rifle Company barrel, should be fun.

Outstanding wood on the rifle and some very nice eating to go along with it's intended use for the day.

Ballards may be weaker,
but they sure are neater!

Very nice rifle, but I'm not surprised. I've seen your work before. Nice buck too.

My son has had good success from a tree stand. Tree Lounge about 40 feet up a
ponderosa.
He has taken several deer from the same location. Worked well until (unmentionable)
stole it. I gave him mine after fashioning security locks for it.

Interesting things happen from a tree stand. He has been challenged by moose with
calf that took real umbrage with his presence in her territory.

One time he dropped his orange vest when changing from climbing clothes to sitting
gear. A pair of hunters drove up the road ... noted the vest and on their way back
down stopped to get it. My son leaned over and said very quietly "sir...sir...
Guy goes swivel head trying to identify the source and about paniced reacting like God was speaking to him. Finally he identified the source of the voice and helped retrieve the vest.

Another time he watched 7 coyotes come down the road single file. Only later did it
occur to him that those probably we not coyotes but timber wolves. Unfortunately,
he was too busy watching them to use his iPhone.

I've tried the tree stand but am too hyperactive to sit well. At about an hour and a half my butt gets too sore, etc.
