Case blowby in .22 rf.

Got my liner in and test fired the rifle today.  (Martini) and had a Triangle Path of blow by pointing right to the F.P. Strike.   F.P was hitting real close to the rim and as I stoned it back after the 3rd shot No Blow by.  Thinking the F.P. was cocking the round, but all I know is what worked, not why.  Question: I have .042 protrusion and .043 head space.  Think I can cut back on the protrusion, say to .040 and still keep ignition?   Thanks!  David

Sorry, My head space is about 8"  and if I shake my head nothing rattles up there.   I have a .042 counter bore in the barrel for the rim and the Breach Block barely closes on a .001 shim.  Sound better?  David

Yes, I'd cut it back to .040".   You certainly don't want the tip to be able to contact the floor of the rim recess when the rifle is dry fired.

Or puncture the rim and have gas escape!

I have a problem with gas escaping, and it isn't at the rim.
