Anyone know TPI on barrel shank? Just bought one  and and barrel on Gunbroker.

A barrel I took off of one has a shank 1" diameter with 14 V threads per inch. The shank is 1.467" long.

1" x 14 tpi correct. Had to face .018 to get to index up right. Then had to shorten shank .054 and rechamber.
Nice looking half octagon barrel but machined like it was soft. 45-70' Any way to modify extractor so case rim will not slip in front of extractor. Seemed to be a problem with early actions'

Yes, if it has the rotary extractor it can be welded up and then dressed down so that it does not rotate back so far. If you hold the extractor so that the hook that engages the rim is up at 12:00 and your looking at the outboard side of the extractor, the side that is towards the receiver, you will see a long flat. that buts up against the inside of the receiver to limit its rearward movement. That is the area you need to build up and then dress down until your happy with the way it fits. Fit right, IMHO, when the breach block is fully to the rear, the extractor should have a little front to back movement. You should be able to put a cartridge in and push in on the head and cause the breach block to close  on your thumb. I like to put the case in until it almost contacts the extractor and then close the block and I have not had any problems. I have pics some place of the one I reworked but can't find if at the moment, when I do I will post it up.

The extractor allowing the rim to slip by seems to be mainly a rotary extractor issue. Mine are all sliding extractors, as used in early Sporters, and never had a problem with rims.

Yes the navy arms ones as well as Pedrosoli, who made the navy arms actions uses a rotary extractor. I am still looking of the pics that show where to weld. Mose likely you will have to modify the little notch that engages with the breach block. It will have to be moved forward a little at a time till everything is timed right. Not a hard job just takes a little time and patience.
When you take it to be welded, don't skimp, go to someone that is experienced and good at tig welding. Tell him that it is a cast part and there is a good chance the first pass will be a little cheesy. He will know what you mean. A good Tigger can run 2 beads on there and not have much spill over the sides to dress down.
