	Chuck, that is a relative easy pattern to forge the first bar. the hard part is keeping it all lined up when the bar is cut, combined and rewelded. And it gets tougher from there until the knife is forged. this one is tough from the very first. (You need to *Login* or *Register* to view media files and links) 15 layer 300 series stainless and nickel, forge welded damascus. Forge welded onto high carbon SG2 stainless core

	Both of your examples are beautiful, steel-pounder. I love Damascus work. In fact, my wedding ring is a custom made Damascus. It's pretty hard to see, unlike your beautiful pieces. I've always yearned for a beautiful daily carry knife out of Damascus. Only problem is I daily carry a full-sized semi-auto pistol and a spare magazine, and occasionally a cellphone carrier. Too much on my belt already. But I do love Damascus.

	SP, very impressive damascus, I have a power hammer and forge, dabble in it a bit - but it is art, your skills and art are above average. I'd like to see what you could do making a lever similar to your knives... but add curves? Chuck, somehow I missed your posts on your Walker, very impressive, great work! I've built quite a few actions from stock and from castings, they're a lot of work - even more to get them all the way finished, not just "shootable" - where most of mine end at. Greg

	I very much doubt that I will ever be on forged in fire. I just have nothing to gain by going on that show. and some one in my position who makes a living forging knives cant afford to go and lose on national television.

	In the early 60's somebody gave my father a very fine Remington SxS shotgun. Most Remington's are heavy and clunky, but this one was a beauty, light weight with a very trim pistol grip stock and ejectors, and in excellent condition. The problem with it was that it was damascus, and the barrels had a beautiful pattern. It was a 12 gauge and I wanted to load up some black powder shells and use it, but my father wouldn't let me; "Robert, you'll blow your fingers off!" I think he ended up giving it away.

	that is too bad. among my other projects waiting for me is a colt 1878 DB shotgun with Damascus barrels. it has a serial number that according to colt was never made but every piece of it has the same three digit number. I hope to one day put it into operational condition and load some black for it.
